Grampians Hike 2009

Image
With Raft Race come and gone, its now time to get ready for our next big camp... The District Hike. This year the leaders of the district thought we’d do something different, so we’re packing up and heading to the Grampians for the long weekend in June. It was last done back in 2002, and it was a huge success, so it was thought that it was about time that we did it again. We will only be doing day hikes, so you won’t have to lug all your stuff all over the Grampians. This will be a great opportunity for those who need your nights under canvas for the Jamboree, and may also count for your hike for the Red Cord. Dates: 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th of June (Queens Birthday Weekend) Cost: $55 which includes the bus trip and a much needed shower on the Sunday. It does not include food, you will need to bring your own HIKING food (no steaks!!) As seats on the bus are limited, we will need to know who definitely wants to go, and your money by Friday 17th April. We don’t have any Scout nights before ...

Raft Regatta - Reminder

Image
Don't forget your life jacket (if you have one), wide brimmed hat, fully enclosed shoes (old sand shoes which won't come off) not 'Crocs' or sandals, water bottle and a portable lunch for Saturday. Looking at the weather forecast, it shouldn't be a total fire ban , so cooking should be allowed, but remember to have a backup plan! It looks like we might get some rain over the weekend and the nights may be cold. Make sure your tent is waterproof, you have a spray jacket, and something warm to wear in the evenings. See you at the hall before 6pm on Friday. We are hoping to be leaving the hall at 6pm. We will then be heading out to Bunnings carpark where we will meet up with Steve and his big trailer. We will then head out to Buxton's Bend together.

Raft Regatta - Self Catering & Cooking

Image
Now is the time to start planning your meals for the camp next weekend. Remember you must have a pre-made, non-cooking, cut lunch for Saturday. If there is a declaration of total fire ban next weekend, there will be no cooking permitted on camp. Check the CFA website for total fire ban advice for the North Western District. If not a total fire ban, there will be fire restrictions in place. Check the CFA website for fire restriction information for the North Western District. Click here to find out what is and what is not allowable on days of fire restriction and days of total fire ban.

UPDATE...Raft Regatta - Moved to the following weekend

Image
The District leaders have decided to move the Raft Regatta a week later, that is March 13,14,15. There were too many leaders going to be away and it lets everyone have the long weekend free. It also gives us one more week to test and make the rafts look awesome. We hope this does not cause too much inconvenience. Steven
