Scout's Tomorrow Night :: Water Safety Night at Irymple Pool (6:30pm to 8:30pm, Wed 23 February)

Tonight (23 February) is WATER SAFETY NIGHT. The night starts at 6:30pm at the Irymple Pool.

Cost: Pool entry (about $3, I think).

What to Bring:
  • Long pants, shirt and shoes to swim in!
  • Towel
  • Bathers
  • Change of clothes

Pick up Scouts from the Irymple Pool at 8:30pm.

Sunraysia District Scout Raft Regatta 2011, Friday 4 March, 6:00pm to Sunday 6 March, 1:00pm


RAFT REGATTA 2011

This year, Raft Regatta will be held at the Bushman's Rest Caravan Park at Lake Cullulleraine. We will be camping on the lawn area in front of the old hall.

Where: Bushman's Rest Caravan Park, Lake Cullulleraine. (When entering the caravan park, please stop off at the office and let the manager know that you are there for the Scout Raft Regatta).

Cost: $10 per head (to be paid to 5th Mildura Scouts)

Starts: Friday March 4th, Meet at 6:00pm at the 5th Mildura Scout Hall. Depart the Hall by 6:30pm. (Scouts to arrange car pooling).

Finishes: Pickup at Lake Culluleraine on Sunday at lunchtime. We will have lunch before we leave.

What to Bring:
  • Usual camping gear. Tent (at least 2 scouts per tent - Scouts to organise), sleeping bag, etc.
  • Food - We will be self catering, hike style. Bring your own food and hike cooking gear. Keep it light weight. No cooking fires
  • Saturday lunch to be carried for lunch on the water. You will probably need to lash an esky to your raft.
  • We will be having a fishing competition! Bring tackle and bait.
  • Bring your own life jacket if you have one (we have some if you don't).
  • Long shirts and pants to stop mozzies.
  • Mozzie repellant. The really strong stuff!
  • Maybe mozzie nets over hats / over beds inside tents?
  • Sunscreen.
  • Bathers and rash vet.
  • BIG hat.
  • Water bottle.

Raft Building:
Wednesday night, March 2 is the last chance to finish building the rafts. Bring all the equipment and tools you will need to finish your rafts. Bring along your handy Mums or Dads to help!

Fundraisers for the Venturer :: Selling Drinks at Opera by the Lock & Cleaning up after the Legends Cricket Match

Max has obtained two fundraising opportunities for the Murray Venturer Unit. The events are on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of March.

Venturer Fundraising Event No.1 - Saturday 5th Match, 6pm to 11pm. OPERA BY THE LOCK
Selling drinks from the Coke Van at 'Opera By The Lock', which will be held at Nowingi Place (the soundshell) this year due to flooding at the lock. In addition to selling drinks, we will be required to move a few bins around on the night.

Venturer Fundraising Event No.2 - Sunday 6th Match LEGENDS CRICKET MATCH (Gates open at 1:00pm, game played until 5:30pm.
Clean up after 5:30pm for about 1.5 hours after the Legends Cricket Match.

I know that two fundraising events on one weekend is a lot to ask, but you and your Unit will benefit directly.

Please let me know if you are able to work on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, or both.

Fundraiser for 5th Mildura Scout Group :: Cleaning up after the 'Opera By The Lock', Sunday 6th Match, 8am to 10am

Our Group Leader / Venturer Leader, Max Wallenaffer, has obtained a fundraising opportunity for the Group. The event is on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of March. Unfortunately this is the same weekend as the Scout Raft Regatta, so we need to rely heavily on help from parents. I'm not asking the Venturers to take part in this fundraiser as they have two other fundraisers on this same weekend, however they are welcome if they want to come along and help.

Sunday 6th Match, 8am to 10am. (Fundraising for Group)

On Sunday morning we have the job of cleaning up after the 'Opera By The Lock' event. This year, 'Opera By The Lock', will be held at Nowingi Place (the soundshell) due to flooding at the lock. We are required to pick up all rubbish inside the fenced area around the stage and viewing area, then moving the bins to the roadside. After the clean up, you will still have time to head out to Lake Culluleraine and pick up your Scout/s from Raft Regatta.

Please let me know if you are able to spare a couple of hours on the Sunday morning and help us raise funds for the Group.

Sunraysia Daily Mardi Fras Parade & River Festival 2011

Calling all Scouting members & supporters ~ the Sunraysia Mardi Gras Street Parade is on again and we would like you to join us in the street parade!!!

This is a fantastic opportunity to join in this huge family and community eventto promote Scouting!
Theme:
Australian Books & Movies ~ we are going as anUnderwater Theme (eg: a fish, shark, sea horse, crab, jelly fish,octopus, starfish, etc ...)

Date: Saturday 26th February 2011

Time: 5.00pm to approx 7.00pm (end of parade)

Location:
All meet at the “IN” sign (on the grass) at the entrance to the TrainStation on 7th Street

Dress:
Underwater costume (If you have an Underwater costume please wear itas part of the parade theme, we will have somecostumes also available to wear on the night)

Full Uniform (Scouting - Blue Uniform Shirt with plain blue jeans/shorts orstone colour trousers/shorts)

Leaders please bring all your Group & Section flags.

Beginning at 6pm the parade will travel down Seventh St to Chaffey Ave, turn right into Chaffeythen right into Hugh King Drive, past the bowling club and along the River front to the Soundshell,ready for a night of family entertainment with live music on stage.

Activities include:
• MADEC Annual Grape Crush
• Roving Entertainers
• Children’s’ Entertainment area
• Lit Boat flotilla after dark
• Fireworks display at 9pm
• Food & Drinks with a licensed liquor area

Bring the whole family & I hope to see as many of you as possible in the parade.
