Tonight at Scouts we will be participating in Scouts in Action Month. Breaking the Cycle. Bullying in not a part of Scouting. We will also be preparing for the Cohen Shield Camp. Mystery Cooking Box Night will take place another night later in the year.

Cohen Shield Camp 2014 - Friday 12th to Sunday 14th September 2014

Sunraysia District Scout’s Cohen Shield Competition & Activity Camp Friday 12 th to Sunday 14 th September 2014 Butler’s Bend (Munro’s Bend), Trentham Cliffs, NSW Cost :  $30.00 (Includes food, drinks, activity equipment and badge). Health Form & Money Due Back : Wednesday 10 th September 2014 Transport Arrangements : Parents and or car pooling when organised by Scouts. Depart : Scout Hall, Meet at 6:00pm. Depart at 6:30pm. Car Pooling, or meet us there. Return : Pick up from Camp 2:00pm. (Campsite must be packed up and clean before any Scouts can depart.) Un packing : All scouts/parents are expected to help un-pack the trailers into the new shed at 2:30pm, immediately after leaving from the campsite. Uniform : Scouts need to wear uniform to and from camp. There will not be swimming on this camp. REPCO Dad of the Year BBQ - Saturday 6th September - Cuboree Fundraiser

The 5th Mildura Cubs are having a BBQ at REPCO in the hope to make enough to buy some sort of lighting system to take to Cubore. REPCO are selling “Dad of the Year” mugs for $5 with profits going to Scouts Australia. Where: Repco Mildura - 93-97 Seventh Street, Mildura Date: Saturday 6th September Time: 10am to 2pm Come down and support this fundraiser. There is a special blanket badge for Cubs who help out and for a limited number of Cubs and Scouts who come and buy a sausage. Make sure you and your mates all go to www.dadoftheyear.com.au and nominate a Dad to win him $10,000! 5th Mildura Scouts purchased a Scouts Australia Geocoin and are now tracking its movements via geocaching.com. Last known location is a geocache near Mannum, SA.

Scout Prayer 6 August - 100 Year Anniversary of the Outbreak of WW1

Rainbow of Candles red – the colour of blood, we remember all those who have been injured in fighting or war. orange – the colour of bright orange jackets worn so that people can be seen, while they work to look after people who are in danger, we remember fire-fighters and ambulance teams yellow – sometimes people tie a yellow ribbon to welcome people home, we remember those who are missing a member of their family who is away from home at the moment. green – the colour of camouflage clothes, we remember those who are serving our country today. blue – the colour of the caps of the peacekeeping forces, we remember those working for peace. indigo – a sad colour, we remember those who are sad because of the past. violet – a royal colour, we remember kings and queens and politicians as they rule our countries.
