Hi 5th Mildura Scouts & Families, Here are a few things that everyone need to know for Scouts this week. Scouts Tonight - Tour of the Mildura Police Station (Wednesday 15/6/11 - Organised by Chloe Manger) Start: 7:30pm at the 5th Mildura Scout Hall as usual. Finish: 9:30pm pick-up at the front of the Mildura Police Station. Uniform: Full uniform please. Bring a warm jacket, as we will be walking from our hall to the Police Station. Parent Help to Chop Wood Tonight Would it be possible for a couple of parents to chop some of the wood, which is stacked in the back yard, and place it in the scout trailer. We are cooking a hot meal for the scouts on Saturday night of the Bike-Hike (this weekend) and I believe that wood is fairly scarce where we are going. Bike-Hike is THIS WEEKEND! Please let me know tonight if you are planning on coming on the bike-hike camp this weekend. I need to know numbers for catering on Saturday night. Bring a warm jacket, as we will be walking from our hall to the Police Station. (Last minute information about the Bike Hike on Friday 17 - 19 June, 2011).

This year the Bike Hike will be held in the Lambert Island Reserve and along the banks of the Murray on the Victorian side. We will be camping on Friday night just off Johns Way, over Outlet Creek, which is just past the Karadoc Winery off the Kulkyne Way. (See map below). Starts: Friday June 17th, Meet at 6:00pm at the 5th Mildura Scout Hall. Depart the Hall by 6:30pm. (Scouts to arrange car pooling). We will be taking the scout trailer for the transport of bikes and gear. Finishes: Approximately 3pm Sunday at the John Douglas Scout Centre at Nichols Point. (Exact time will be advised to Parents by text message). What to Bring: Usual camping gear. Tent (at least 2 scouts per tent - Scouts to organise), sleeping bag, etc. It will be very cold. Your main bag will be carried in a trailer from camp site to camp site. You will only need to carry a small bag with food, water, etc. Food. You will be self catering, hike style for all meals except Saturday night dinner (possibly a shared camp

Tonight at scouts we will be preparing for the upcoming Sunraysia District Scout Bike Hike (June 17-19). Bring your bike to scouts tonight, along with your helmet, bike pump, tools and puncture repair kit and we will make sure that everyone's bike is ready for the Bike Hike! Last week we did some cooking which will definitely come in handy on the camp. Maybe not the egg cooked in an orange..... Tonight we will be learning some first aid skills, which I hope we won't need on the Bike Hike, but it's best to "Be Prepared".

Tonight at scouts we will be backwoods cooking! Wear something warm as we will be outside for most of the night. Bring your camp stove if you want to practice with it before the bike hike.
